Since 1882 a coal-fired train has been running the narrow gauge tracks between Durango and Silverton. For decades it carried ore back to Durango's smelter. Today the train carries tourists and rail fans from all over the world through beautiful snow covered aspen forests, along the icy sparkling waters of the Animas, hugging the rugged granite cliffs until it descends into Cascade Canyon. The train museum holds a collection of antique trains and memorabilia that is second to none. Located in the roundhouse, this museum is a must see for all visitors to Durango. This incredible museum is also available for parties, weddings and other special functions.

CASCADE CANYON WINTER TRAIN
The Winter Cascade Canyon Excursion is our roundtrip run from Durango to Cascade Canyon along the scenic and remote Animas River. This excursion will leave you with breathtaking memories of the San Juan National Forest winter landscapes for years to come.

Don’t miss the second-annual Winter Photographer’s Special on Sunday, February 10. The train will depart Durango at 8:00 a.m. for a full day of spectacular photo run-bys in the remote wilderness. Coach seating: $119; Caboose seating $135. Please book early, as seating is very limited.

SILVERTON SUMMER EXCURSION - 2008 Information Coming Soon!
The Roundtrip Silverton Train departs several times a day from May 5 to October 27. Tickets are $65 per Adult; $35 per Child (5 to 11); Children under 5 who ride in their parents' lap ride free; First Class Parlor Car $119  (must be 21 and older) includes complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, croissants & one glass of champagne. TIP: You can arrange your round trip to spend the night in Silverton, rather than making the entire trip in one day! Spend the night in Silverton and return the next day! It's a great way to see Silverton and it breaks up the long train ride. Get coupons for Silverton hotels and restaurants here.
